Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance (SLILG) has extended the invitation for collaborations in professional services/experiences in the domain of urban planning and development with ‘UoM Urban Lab’ Centre for Cities, University of Moratuwa.
A series of 2-day Urban Design IntroductoryWorkshopshas been conducted for all island provincial council administration officials in Sri Lanka and your continuous professional service in Urban design and Urban Planning is highly appreciated in order to make the workshop series success. This was held from August to December 2019.
The workshop series wasfocused within the framework of Urban Design principals, guidelines, local as well as foreign precedence and practiceexpertise with experiences, the main objective of workshopsis to create an outstanding platform to understand, learn and practice urban design and also the following areas:
- Theoretical backbone of Urban Design
- Contrast between Urban Design and Planning
- Initiate Urban Design in local authorities
- Incorporate Urban Design principalsto future development proposal
- Different Urban Design approaches when planning new cities and existing cities/towns etc.
Target Participants
Mayors, Councillors, Chief Executive Officer/Secretary of the Pourashava, policy advisors, urban planners, and other key urban leaders and decision makers. (For limited number of capacity the selection will be done on first come first basis based on the selection criterion).
